“Torture by proxy”

December 5th, 2007 by SA (Alexandria, Egypt) · 1 Comment

In the Holy “War on Terrorism” the USA performed kidnapping for persons that seems to be related to Al-Qaida or any Islamic Radical movement.
The USA then renders them to a country where they were tortured in order to get information.

“Rendition”, is a new American movie in theaters since the nineteenth of October.
The movie reveals the cooperation between American Administration represented by the CIA and the national Security in a North African country for dirty operations of rendition.

The name of this North African country wasn’t mentioned explicitly in the movie but Egypt could be definitely this country.

On 2003 Egypt cooperates with the CIA in the abduction of Abu Omar el Masry, an Egyptian cleric was living in asylum in Italy.

Abu Omar was transported to a prison in Egypt where he was tortured .

He was released on 2006 ,and living now in his hometown Alexandria where he is banned from traveling or talking to press.

Abu Omar showed up during the blogger Trial Abdel Karim Amer in Alexandria on Februray 2007 ,when he reveals torture traces on his body in front of the Cameras .

The abduction of Abu Omar has set off a series of investigations and intrigues within the Italian intelligence community and criminal justice system; in the Italian press these are collectively referred to as the Imam Rapito (or “kidnapped Imam”) affair.

Speaking about “Rendition”, the movie tells the story of a young Egyptian chemical engineer (Anwar ElBrahimi) who holds an Amercian green card, married to an American woman and living in the USA, El Ibarhimi is abducted by the CIA and transported to a North African country where he was tortured.

Now as we know the story of Abu Omar , may be there are tens or hundreds of people who lived/living that rendition and between them who might died under torture.

It’s stupid to think that torturing and rendition and all that dirty work could bring security and safety to any nation.

Not sure if this movie would be shown in theaters in Egypt but I am looking forward to watch that movie.

The story of Abu Omar is really horrible especially if you think that if it’s known and has been for years on the papers it’s because two italian journalists have discoverded it. This is to say that who knows how many other suspected of terrorism have been secretly kidnapped in this way, in “democratic” countries like Italy with the help of local secret services. The movie will probably arrive in Italy, if it hasn’t yet. As soon as I find a copy I will send it to you.
