Women disrespect men-only enclave!

January 9th, 2008 by AP (Lisboa, Portugal) · No Comments

One of the most interesting stories of the day. It´s not about Bush´s visit to Middle East, nor the comeback of Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire primary elections. It tells the story of a protest over disputed land in Halkidiki province, in Greece, during which a dozen women entered Mount Athos, home of 20 monasteries. Regarded as Orthodox Christianity’s spiritual home, this is a men-only enclave, created more than 1000 years ago, and women who disrespected the ban can be criminally charged according to greek law! We will see what the punishment will be.
Here is a link for Reuters article about it.
