An inventory of living, from Milan

January 30th, 2008 by BB (Milano, Italia) · 6 Comments

During the last 4 weeks when reading the blog and thinking about possible subjects for a post, I was often under the impression to be too concentrated on myself and my world to write something interesting for everybody. I had the feeling that my issues were too domestic, even vain. It was good to find out reading AH’s Inventory of Living that I am not the only one who feels the geographical position and tends to close into his own little world. Here my list:

  • working for 3 weeks on quotes to shoot a commercial in Chile because it is summer there and finally knowing I’m not going anywhere
  • a brand new haircut I didn’t like that I adjusted myself with a pair of scissors and now it is even worse…
  • preparing and surviving a 4 years old Birthday/Carnival party for 25 children including looking everywhere in town for a birthday cakes featuring Winx and Power Rangers cause they are sold out
  • thoughts about being a 35 years old woman and still calling myself “a girl”
  • a slightly internet addiction consisting in reading blogs in any language I can vaguely understand and looking for news on last trends of advertising like WOM
  • looking for an hotel in Berlin on tripadvisor where you can see pictures of the hotels taken by other guests and see if they match with the ones of the hotel’s website (almost never)
  • a persistent cold due to winter weather with its grey/white foggy sky and humidity.
  • the fall, in Italy, of Prodi government during an outrageous vote session at the Senate last week
  • fear and unbelief face to the possibility of a Berlusconi III, the revenge…

I agree with AH and cannot say any better then she does; “this blog forces me beyond the distractions of just living and to think more about life”.Thank you.

Barbara, it’s brilliant to read your inventory of living from Milan - and even better to think that as I sit here on holiday in a hotel in Austria and think about whether or not to go out to a loud bar, or if the cut on my head from skiing is going to fade soon, there is someone else out there ‘living’, and somehow that adds up to a bit more life. I hope you’re very very well indeed.
