She spent almost half of her life behind the closed doors of a cellar … In a wet and dark place, Elisabeth endured for 24 years silently the abuses and tortures from her father. 42 years old Elizabeth, remained captive in her house basement in Amstetten, Austria. Austrian police say her 73year old father allegedly abused her continuously, from the age of 11.
According to the Austrian television, Elisabeth had given birth to 7 children. DNA tests are being conducted in order to determine whether the man is indeed the father of his own grandchildren. The dreary story came to light when Elizabeth’s eldest daughter had to be admitted in hospital in critical condition. The case is reminiscent of the one Natasha Kampusch, who was snatched from her way to school at the age of ten in 1998 by a technician and spent eight years in a bunker beneath his house near Vienna until she managed to free herself in August 2006. The kidnapper committed suicide by jumping in front of a train after Mrs Kampusch’s spectacular escape.
