Four years after the death of dancer Martine Cazenave, her bridal veil sways ethereally again the day of her marriage. 68 year old artist Jean Ronzier kept his promise to marry his eternal love, who died four years ago in the age of 52. «To me it seemed perfectly natural. What is surprising is people who don’t get it. Some do understand…one person even said to me, at last a man who has kept a promise» said Jean Rozier.  They were together for twenty years but decided to wait until their retirement to get married. Unfortunately, she fell ill.  Death separated them, two weeks before their wedding date in 2004. “He’s been fighting for three years, so he’s managed to live his love, that’s what he says.” claims Pierre Escande, mayor of Lamontélarié  50 years ago a young woman begged General De Gaulle to allow posthumous marriage, despite the tragic loss of her love. Painter Ronzier submitted to the French government the same request. It was rejected by French President Jacques Chirac, but it was later approved by Nicolas Sarkozy. It is the tenth time in French history that the law of 1959 links two registrar actions, death and marriage… The pair’s lost occasion was ratified in a modest ceremony in the Lamontélarié’s Town Hall in southern France.
