Egyptian Parliment on fire.

August 19th, 2008 by SM (Cairo, Egypt) · No Comments

Tuesday 19th August 2008, a date which will be carved in the memory of all Egyptians who are watching the Egyptian Parliment going on fire. El Shura Council, or Magless El Shoura as we call it,  an old and historical heritage located in Down Town, not very far from the American Embassy in Cairo, is considered as one of the most important buildings in Egypt’s political life.

To this minute, according to Egyptian officials, 13 persons are injured. Still the count is going up. As for the status of the building itself which could not be saved by the many helicopters of the Armed Forces, “we’re just waiting for it to simply collapse” says Sherif Mohamed, a journalist who is looking at the building and just shaking his head to the right and to the left in remorse.  The reason of this huge fire is still not determined. An accident? It could be, investigations and time will only tell.
