The Fool

November 21st, 2008 by SM (Cairo, Egypt) · 6 Comments

Hi to All,

This is a trial of a little and totally immaginative story. Enjoy!

Sherine.

The fool

After finishing his school, he started to follow studies at one of the top universities in his country. One dream and one aspiration in his mind were to finish University and become this great engineer, which he did. He even became an international one! But it didn’t seem to be enough for this ambitious and greedy man. He is in constant search and need for more. When younger, he needed to explore this wild life more and more everyday and would really push it to the limit. To his eyes, life is like a horse, or maybe like a flower! Yes a very pinkish colored flower. A life that he desires but that he does not want. He is just confused for he thought that he did not find his flower. Everyday, he would look for his rose in beautiful women’s eyes, in drugs, in wild parties, maybe he finds it there. Everybody wished to have his free style life, everybody but him. Instead he feels that he is just another fool, the biggest fool of all. Yet he still goes on in his life, he thinks, “I achieved education, success, prestigious career, a family” that must be it, but the flower kept hiding from him. He thinks all over again, “maybe unconditional love would be it”. So, he searches again, and let himself find the way to love or should I say lust? Again and again and again, still, the rose is far to reach. Today, his life is a collection of sweet shattered memories. He has to go on. He thinks, what the hell, am married, am educated, I lived my life as the King of this World! Still, the rose is so far to reach and he realizes he’s just the fool. But does the rose really exist, is it there at all?” Today, at 70 years old, he’s still asking the same question, where is my rose? A flashback of his life and a big series of mistakes are daily on his mind. It’s just the life of another guy. He realizes the permanent stupid fool he was and the never found rose kept coming back to his mind just to remind him that he is just another fool.

It shouldnt be very hard for most of the males on this earth to identify with this particular “fool” , at least if not in public then in private or even for themselfs, but it takes a lot of courage to do that and courage is²a rare comodity these times ;)

Why does this story remind me of those told by some sects?

    Hi booha,

Thanks for your comment. I do agree with you that it takes a lot of courage indeed to face one’s self, then again I feel that this can be influenced by one’s society and culture, where some men are simply encouraged to have a very macho type of life. Is it a man’s world?

    Hi romain,

I am very much interested to know why you think that? What type of sects are you referring to? This is a totally immaginatory story which does not have any identity except an emotional human identity :)

    Thanks for your comment,

    Sherine.

    Hi Sherine,

None of those you have in Egypt (at least do I hope you don’t have them here). Actually it was reminding me of stories told by Pentecotists, Adventists, Temoins de Jehovah, Enfants de Dieu, Mormons and many others… which abuse the hope and naivety of weak people.
(Of course I did not want to say that this is your case)

    Bye,

    R.

    Salut Romain,

You’re absolutely right, this is not the case of my story… I think that you saw the constant “nostalgie” of the past full but somehow confused life of this man in the story as an invitation to some type of sect or faith which is not at all the case :)

Thanks again for your comments, keep them coming!

    Sherine.
