My world in November

November 25th, 2008 by AP (Lisboa, Portugal) · No Comments

Barack Obama was elected President of the (still) most powerful country on earth. My sister, who lives in Australia, came to visit us for a week. The world economy is going down, and down and the expectations for 2009 are quite scary. For the first time in Portuguese recent history a banker was arrested and will face charges for fraud and other illegal activities that lead is bank to almost bankruptcy. My beautiful and courageous grandmother celebrated her 87th birthday with her family by her side. A recent study concluded that 43 women were killed by their boyfriends, husbands or partners since the beginning of the year in Portugal, almost half of them after leaving the aggressor. I ate the first mushrooms and chestnuts of the season (and confirm that autumn still is the most beautiful time of the year).
