Five Katyusha Rockets Found in Southern Lebanon

February 4th, 2009 by LM (Beirut, Lebanon) · No Comments

U.N. peacekeepers on Wednesday found five Katyusha rockets in Wadi Hamoul near the Lebanese border town of Naqoura.

A Lebanese army communiqué said the 122-mm rockets were old and not set to be fired into Israel.

A preliminary report said the projectiles were still usable.
Spokeswoman for the U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon Yasmine Bouzianne said a UNIFIL patrol found the rockets around 5pm.
She said a rocket launcher was also found in the vicinity.
Bouzianne said UNIFIL troops immediately cordoned off the area and contacted the southern command of the Lebanese army.
