Wael Abass at Cairo Airport

It was 7 am on Tuesday 30 June when i got a call from an Egyptian Friend and journalist in Canada , she said “Wael is detained at Cairo Airport” , Wael Abass is an Egyptian blogger and ctivist  his blog “Egyptian awarness is one of the most famous blog in Egypt ,through his blog he could raise awarness on many critical subject in Egypt as torture and sexual harssment .

I just woke up and went to the Airport , i called Wael and he told me that he arrived at 3:45 am from Sweden but the security detained him for 4 hours refusing to give him his passport ,whithout giving him any reason why he is detained but they told him “your name is on the state security list” .

About the State Security

State security in Egypt is the organisation the worst in Egypt ,their role should be protecting the national security but at Mubarak era State security is only protecting Mubarak and his family and freinds ,threat opposants and activists and put them in prison ,they use torture and all nsaty ways to terrorize bloggers and actvists .

“dont you know who are we kid? we are the people who say good morning everyday to Mubarak and tell him that everything is ok and Egypt is ok ”

“dont you know where are you kid? here we tortured the most prominent AlQaeda members ”

Back to Wael Story

when i arrived it was 8 Am they gave Wael his passport after Wael holding a sign said “State security took my Passport” he was holding it at the Airport and all tourists were reading it ,it seems security didnt want troubles so they gave him back the Passport and we thought it was over But it wasnt ,they took Wael toa a place and inspect him perosnaly  ,to humiliate him and then i saw him from far they were inspecting everysingle paper he had and taking copies sometimes ,they took his laptop and camera and they left him waiting for another 8 hours .

The Camera was back but the laptop was never back ,as Wael has been told a high Authority people ordered to have this laptop ,they are the state security .

After 13 hours wael was out of the Airport ,and activists from NGOs ,Journalists and lawyers arrived then we went to look for his luggages that was lost after 13 hours of detaintion ,it took us a while the guys from the Cairo Airport  helping us to get back the luggages was wondering why Wael has his name on the state security list ,we explained to him “couse wael is trying to help people ,he is trying to fight against injustice and abuse from the regime and the Egyptian security ” the guys from the Airport were intresting to know so we told them “ok go and check the ineternet about Wael Abass and other bloggers” we should thank the State Security we had new Egyptian audiences.

The Next Day  international and local media were talking about Wael detention ,Thanks again State Security you are making us famous and powerfull.
